Concerned teachers will also get a copy of the order in their inbox. Only the teachers submitting their reports online will be considered for receiving honorarium.
As this process is managed online, the administrative delays will be minimized. All this data (the teacher reports, payments etc) will be in public domain and can be seen by any body. This in turn increases the transparency and accountability in day to day affairs.

Environmental Reporting

NGC is facilitating an innovative online programme to document the experiences of Green Teachers. Now NGC Green Teachers can share the school environment activities taken up by them. The details of each and every activity taken up by Green Teachers will be uploaded to the internet and made available online.

We all have news and stories to tell. The Internet lets us tell our stories to the world. If you want to tell something important about environmental issues and concerns to others, NGC will help you reach the entire world through internet! To begin, Green Teachers learn to share their information. This may mean learning from the people involved in environment education and also inspiring, motivating others into greening the environment.

In many places, teachers like you are pioneers in taking up innovative environmental activities. This is a challenge. And if you hope to succeed and want others to listen and believe you, follow you, then you must win their support. This can be achieved by starting to write about the activities you have taken up in your school and community. You can also write about the issues and problems related to environment in your area and how we can be the catalysts in bringing the desire change.

Think of yourself as a voice in your community. Make the news you want to tell clear and explain why it is important. Provide as many details as you can and if possible include photos to show the truth of your report.

Themes

Green Teachers can write on environmental themes that they are serious about.

Household garbage management, Hospital waste disposal, Water pollution, shortage and conservation, Air Pollution, Civic amenities and their care, School and community plantation, Cleanliness of parks and gardens, Cleanliness and composting of vegetable and fruit markets, Cleanliness ant bus stands, railway stations and public places, Study and conservation of Eco systems, Discovery and documentation of the role of local Biodiversity, Fuel, energy and resource conservation, and etc.

Activities

As you are all aware, activities planned by NGC are wide ranging. Essentially they are ‘student centered’ involving people from all walks of life.

  • Awareness camps, Campaigns
  • Rallies, Marches, Human Chains
  • Mock Parliaments
  • Exhibitions, Melas
  • Model Making
  • Seminars, Workshops
  • Debates, Discussions, Popular talks
  • Street Theatre
  • Plantation and cleanliness drives
  • Reporting pollution and environmental destruction

Teachers can write about these activities also. They can also report about the activities taken up by the five NRM NGC Teams in schools.

How NGC helps promote English in schools

The interactive games, puzzles help the students to acquire language skills in a joyful way. The joy of learning makes them involve in all the activities with a great intensity, which in turn helps them learn more and better! The resource material (books, manuals, flip charts, etc) will be useful for teachers as well as students for reference.

The following communication material in English will be made available to all the participating schools, teachers and students:

  • Teacher Resource Material on various environmental issues in Portable Document Format will be made available for download. NGC develops the area specific material and places that on internet. Links to download or access the books, manuals, flip charts, and interactive games developed by international and national organizations will also be provided.
  • Multimedia Resources like Power Point Presentations, Slide Shows, and Interactive Games, Quiz for both online and off line usage
  • Student Work sheets and books for easy download
  • The teachers and students can download all the material available in NGC website. They may write all the files on a CD or copy them onto a pen drive and share or distribute that with other teachers or students in the school. Thus in the case of schools that do not have access to internet connection, even one person visiting the net cafĂ© serves the needs of the entire school. Once the material is copied onto a portable device, anyone can read/use the material on computers even without internet connection.
  • NGC E-Newsletter highlighting the school environmental activities taken up across the state will be sent every week free of cost to all the participating schools, teachers and students. The only eligibility to get the magazine is to have a valid e-mail address and registering their e-mail to receive the newsletter.
  • NGC Eco Literary programmes like story writing, poetry, debates, elocution, painting, quiz and essay writing on environmental themes will also be conducted in English.
